WHAT WE DO

{ 1 }

Youth Leadership

Youth ministry requires more than good intentions. As a Youth Leader, we help youth workers from all walks of life develop Christ-centered, life-changing, sustainable ministries by offering training that is holistic, relational and relevant.

OUR MODEL FOR TRAINING FOCUSES ON KNOW-DO-BE

-What do youth workers need to KNOW to be effective in ministry?

-What do youth workers need to be able to DO to be effective in ministry?

-What kind of people do youth workers need to BE to be effective in ministry?

Youth & Civic Engagement

Our work strengthens the youth development profession by contributing in sports activities, academics, and strategies for achieving youth development outcomes through civic engagement. It strengthens the field of community development by identifying young people as assets with important contributions to make rather than viewing them as “risks.”

Youth-Adult Partnership

Transformational results occur when young people help lead social change efforts. Involving young people brings fresh ideas, new talents and critical perspectives to the table in ministry. It engages them as respected, contributing members of the Kingdom of God. In turn, this inclusion and respect can act as an antidote to alienation, antisocial behaviors, and the tendency to leave their community to seek better opportunities.

Authentic youth engagement requires a shift in the mental models that both adults and youth have about each other. It requires respecting and valuing the unique gifts that come from God, each group, and valuing the positive results that come from working together.

NextGeneration Youth Ministry offers consulting, training and tools to help to integrate youth-adult partnership in the Kingdom of God.

Youth Development

Youth development,  is the process of growing up and developing one’s capacities, happens no matter what we do. The challenge is to promote positive youth development and plan quality experiences with young people.

Eight Keys

1. Youth Feel Physically and Emotionally Safe

2. Youth Experience Belonging and Ownership

3. Youth Develop Self-Worth

4. Youth Discover Self

5. Youth Develop Quality Relationships with Peers and Adults

6. Youth Discuss Conflicting Values and Form Their Own

7. Youth Feel the Pride and Accountability that Comes with Mastery

8. Youth Expand Their Capacity to Enjoy Life and Know that Success Is Possible

Program Evaluation

No matter how many participants or how much funding our youth program has, only an objective evaluation can determine whether our program is successful or not. An effective evaluation of our youth program will rate the success of the program in different areas. Without such an evaluation, a program can seem successful even when it is not meeting its stated goals.

The way we evaluate our youth is by speaking to parents, coaches if they play sports activities, teachers and youth leaders. All evaluations are done to ensure that the youth that are participating are showing signs of growth in the Lord with a positive message.
